Arbitration Hearings Completed
The last interest arbitration hearing relative to the Chief's Sub-unit, was held on Monday February 4th at the Governor's Office of Employee Relations. The next step is to wait for the stenographer to generate transcripts from the testimony (approx. 2 weeks). Once all the parties involved receive a copy of the transcript, both sides will have 40 days to submit their final brief to the arbitrator. Once the arbitrator has received the briefs, he will then review all written documentation submitted, oral testimony, case law, etc... to make his decision. This arbitration is under the old law, which means the decision can take several months to be awarded. Since we only discussed the "economic" terms of the agreement, we are hoping the decision will not take as long as decisions in the past. As soon as we receive the decision, the membership will be notified immediately.
